Each fifth grade D.A.R.E. student in the past 30 years has written an essay about their experience with the Munster PD’s D.A.R.E. Program including highlights of what they learned, favorite lessons, and how they are going to use the safety information throughout their lives.
Principals will be e-mailing out the essay rules to parents today through their parent messenger, and the essays should be e-mailed to D.A.R.E. Officer James Ghrist at JLGHRIST@MUNSTER.US by no later than Friday, April 24th. Officer Ghrist will choose several winners from each school who will receive prizes on a later date, and one student’s essay will be chosen to represent Munster in the state-wide contest in June.
For more information about the essay contest, please contact Officer Ghrist at 219-836-6639.
