Footlight Players of Michigan City began a yearly scholarship to be awarded to a graduating high-school senior or recent graduate that want to continue an education in the Performing Arts. This year's award will be $1,000.00 which was funded by donations made by the theatre's patrons. It was voted unanimously to title the annual scholarship "The Robert W. Komendera Theater Scholarship" in honor of his 35 years of dedication to the theater.
The recipient this year will be Ms. Anna-Lisse Lenard. Anna- Lisse is currently a senior at Michigan City High School. She has been part of the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble 13 State Competition and received a level gold performance and has been part of the Wind Ensemble that was the top band and placed top chair for three consecutive years. She has been accepted into Ball State's School of Music, majoring in Music Performance. She has worked tirelessly for the past seven years to be the best musician she can be. Her hope and dream would be a member of an orchestra for a movie soundtrack or in an orchestra pit for a professional Broadway show.
