Phase two of Legacy Foundation’s response to COVID-19 is a 3-part strategy that aims to build the leadership capacity of local nonprofit organizations, support creative ideas for addressing disparities in our communities, and improve the ability of community partners to take on future disasters.
From June 23-27, students from Eads Elementary School participated in a fundraiser for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, which was founded in memory of Alexandra “Alex” Scott. Scott died in 2004 from cancer after a brave, lifelong battle with the disease.

To help kick off Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s Best Summer Ever campaign, First Merchants Bank is donating $7,500 to the organization as part of a dollar-for-dollar matching gift. Through July 3, donations of at least $50 to Boys & Girls Clubs will be matched by First Merchants Bank up to $7,500.
The Chesterton Art Center will be hosting an exhibit titled, "Dunes, Lagoons, and More" by painter, Ginny Takacs, through the month of July. There will be an exhibit reception held on Friday, July 17 from 6-8 p.m.
