Chicago Fire FC Defeats Defending MLS Cup Champions Seattle Sounders FC 2-1
Chicago Fire FC earned all three points in a 2-1 win in their opening match of the MLS is Back Tournament against defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Tuesday morning. Forward Robert Berić netted his second career MLS goal to give the Fire the lead early in the second half. After the Sounders leveled the score, Homegrown Player Mauricio Pineda scored his first professional goal off a corner kick from midfielder Gastón Giménez to deliver the game-winner. Pineda finished the game with one goal and one assist.
