The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce the 2025-2026 concert season, America the Beautiful, which will mark the ensemble's 53rd season and the fifth season under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Watson. The orchestra's subscription season centers on the 250th anniversary of the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence, celebrating the country's birthday with music that tells compelling stories of American resilience, joy, and beauty.

So many theaters do the same old same old productions. Nothing against these but they just keep reappearing. I guess they prefer to go the safe classic route with tried and trues but a repeat every 5-10 years would be sufficient.  So…my hats off to neighborhood theater Skokie Theatre for having the courage to try something out of the box.

Hopefully, you do not hear a constant dull hum or an aggressive drone during your every waking hour. Otherwise, you may need to seek the guidance of a self-help group collectively referred to as The Listeners. The narratives of many of the members of this nefarious group, in roles which are all sung by members of Lyric's chorus, combine and intertwine to create the highly disturbing yet hauntingly beautiful opera "The Listeners," composed by Missy Mazzoli in 2022 and receiving its Lyric premiere in a very bold yet distinctly adult production.  3 SPOTLIGHTS

**** Highly Recommended  Porchlight Music Theatre’s production of "Titanique" is a campy comedy gem!  No need to worry, "Titanique" only makes fun of the schmaltzy movie, not the actual wreck.  This is Celine Dion’s own wacky spin on Titanic and it’s over-the-top, raunchy, laugh-out-loud comedy, with plenty of one-liners, improv, puns and pratfalls, lots of sparkly costumes, and of course, Dion’s music.  Ladies, get your BFFs and see this show.  You’ll love it!  4 BIG Spotlights
