The Village of Rosemont today announced plans to develop a free museum that will offer visitors a captivating journey through the 68-year history and continued innovation of Rosemont, Illinois. The 4,300-square-foot museum, named the Donald E. Stephens Rosemont History Museum, will open in Q4 of 2025 and be located within Rosemont’s newly opened Village Hall at 9501 Technology Blvd.
“The Donald E. Stephens Rosemont History Museum will offer an engaging and inspiring space for Rosemont residents and visitors to learn about our village’s rich history and dynamic future,” said Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens. “This project pays tribute to my father’s legacy and vision for the village while highlighting the incredible progress and achievements of our community.”
Designed and built in partnership with Chicago Scenic Studios and Live Art International, the Rosemont History Museum will feature a variety of engaging exhibits and interactive experiences, some of which will rotate over time.
"The Village of Rosemont History Museum will represent the past, present and future of Rosemont,” said Chicago Scenic Studios’ Senior Project Director Jim Mallerdino. “Our entire team at Chicago Scenic Studios are delighted to be working alongside Rosemont’s team to bring it to fruition.”
The Rosemont History Museum will also feature the cherished collection of M.I. Hummels from the Donald E. Stephens Museum of Hummels, which will close by the end of 2024. This relocation ensures these treasured figurines will continue to be preserved and celebrated in their new home.
