
The two troopers involved in this incident are both assigned to the Lowell Post. Trooper Dennis L. Griffin is a 1 1/2 year veteran and Trooper Alaa Hamed is a 4 1/2 year veteran of the department. Both troopers are currently on administrative duty as per department policy. Trooper Griffin sustained injuries to his lower extremities as a result of the gunfire. He has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Once the investigation has concluded, all findings will be forwarded to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
