Lake Station-New Chicago Branch closed until further notice due to smoke damage

alert

On the morning of July 14 before the library was open to the public, a small fire occurred at Lake Station-New Chicago Branch. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished thanks to the quick actions of the police department, fire department, and library maintenance staff.

No one was harmed. However, the building and collection have suffered smoke damage.

Lake Station-New Chicago Branch will be closed until further notice for smoke remediation. Hours updates will be posted to www.lcplin.org.

All other LCPL locations will be open normal hours. Please return your items to another branch while Lake Station-New Chicago is closed.

Lake Station-New Chicago's events have been canceled but we would love to see you at another branch for storytime, crafting classes, and many other amazing programs!
