Indiana Conservation Officers and the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office have positively identified the body recovered yesterday from Lake Michigan.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
An autopsy was completed today, and the cause of death is consistent with drowning. The investigation is still ongoing and additional information will be released when it becomes available.
No additional leads are being requested at this time. Investigators would like to thank the public for their assistance.

(Michigan City) Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after the body of an unidentified male was discovered in Lake Michigan.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., the United States Coast Guard responded to the area just offshore from the Michigan City Lighthouse and recovered the body.
The unidentified victim is described as a white or Hispanic male with dark hair and wearing dark-colored shorts and white tennis shoes. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Indiana Conservation Officers Central Dispatch Center at 812-837-9536.
Indiana Conservation Officers and the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office will be continuing the investigation.
