Walker County – Hard Rock Café Stage – 9 p.m.
From The Judds to The Chicks and the Carter Family itself, country music’s history is steeped in and rife with family duos, bands and groups. Warner Music Nashville sister duo Walker County adds to that ‘family tradition’ with blood-thick harmonies and solid musicianship. Born and raised in rural Sulphur Springs, Indiana, sisters Ivy Dene (lead vocals) and Sophie Dawn (percussion and harmony) have been performing almost as long as they can remember. Sophie’s hard-driving rhythms and Ivy’s strutting, soulful vocals create a unique blend of country music that was inspired by the sounds of middle America they grew up on. And now, having spent years honing their skills, Walker County is ready to carry on the heritage of country music with their modern-traditional blend. The 2020 CMT Listen Up and Next Women of Country artists introduced themselves with fan favorites such as “Drag It Out,” “Someone’s Someone” and “Bits & Pieces.” Earlier this year, they showcased their sound and true-to-themselves style on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Now Walker County is doing everything they can to trick their own hearts in the clever, rock-tinted country waltz “Liar.”

Freddy Jones Band – Hard Rock Café Stage – 9 p.m.
Modern rock radio hits rarely offer a band any street cred for its live show, but don’t tell that to Chicago’s Freddy Jones Band who have the hits (including the #1s “In A Daydream” and “One World”) but earned a truly decided fanbase from its anthemic concerts, which feature a blend of technical wizardry with air-tight, melodic, roots/rock songwriting. There’s no surprise that FJB has been packaged live with everyone from Dave Matthews Band to Bruce Hornsby to Hootie & The Blowfish and that their consistent songwriting resume has earned an organic, career-retrospective “This is: Freddy Jones Band” playlist on Spotify. Led by original singer and songwriter Marty Lloyd and former Samples bass player Rich Ross, Freddy Jones Band continue to be mainstays at hard ticket venues and events, from Boston to Chicago to San Francisco and everywhere in between with more recorded music to come in 2021.
With great songs and musicianship, the only thing the band can’t say they’ve ever had is a member named Freddy Jones. But no one has complained.

A further distinction from their contemporaries was their blue-collar, T-shirt-and-jeans image which was in strong contrast to glam bands of the time, which were characterized by big hair, leather pants, and flashy makeup. During the early years of their career, TESLA toured with David Lee Roth, Def Leppard, and Aerosmith. Tickets $49.50 and up. Ticketmaster.com
