UNITED WAY NORTHWEST INDIANA NAMES CHRIS WHITE AS NEW CEO

United Way Northwest Indiana is excited to announce the appointment of Chris White as its new Chief Executive Officer. White, who previously served as Publisher of the Times of Northwest Indiana from 2013 to 2023, brings extensive regional leadership experience and a strong commitment to community engagement. Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, the Salvation Army, and One Region. A former long-time board member and chairman of Lake Area United Way, White played a key role in the creation of the Level Up program, which has become a cornerstone of regional community development. 

“Chris’s deep roots in the community and his proven leadership in both the public and nonprofit sectors make him the ideal leader for United Way Northwest Indiana at this critical time in our growth,” said Marisa Smoljan, Chair of the Board of Directors. “His track record of collaboration, innovation, and dedication to meaningful change aligns perfectly with our mission. We are confident that under his leadership, the organization will continue to expand its impact and build a stronger, more resilient future for our region.”

White steps into this leadership role as United Way Northwest Indiana continues to expand its flagship programs and further its mission of creating lasting, positive change in the region. “I am honored to join United Way Northwest Indiana and look forward to working alongside our team, partners, and community members to build a stronger, more unified future for everyone,” said Chris White. “Having been involved with Level Up from its inception, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the program grow and make a meaningful impact. I am excited to continue this work and further expand its reach in the communities we serve.”
