
Trooper McKinney and Tippecanoe County Community Corrections concluded an investigation that began earlier this year and resulted in the arrest of Tyreese Moten, 37, from West Lafayette, and Sonja Blakeney, 52, from West Lafayette.
Using various investigative techniques, Trooper McKinney discovered that Moten was dealing narcotics. Upon further investigation, Trooper McKinney learned that Moten was on probation through Tippecanoe County Community Corrections. Trooper McKinney turned over the information to Tippecanoe County Community Corrections to conduct their own investigation.
On Monday, May 16, 2023, Tippecanoe County Community Corrections requested Trooper McKinney to assist with conducting an in-home visit at Moten’s residence on Point West in West Lafayette. During the in-home visit, officers located suspected Cocaine, Marijuana, 11 Pills, and an unknown substance that is believed to be methamphetamine.
In total, the preliminary weight located was approximately 168 grams of Cocaine, 36 grams of the unknown substance, and 3 grams of Marijuana. The unknown substance will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for testing.

- Sonja Blakeney, 52, from West Lafayette
- Dealing Cocaine – Level 2 Felony
- Possession of Cocaine – Level 3 Felony
Tippecanoe County Community Corrections and Trooper McKinney were assisted by other troopers from the Lafayette Post.
