
Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter is pleased to announce the promotion of Trooper Tyler Bentlage to the rank of Sergeant. In his new role, Sergeant Bentlage will serve as a Training Officer in the Training Division at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
Sergeant Bentlage, a 13-year veteran of the Indiana State Police, was selected for this promotion based on a competitive process that included written testing, an oral interview, years of service, education, and past job performance.
Sergeant Bentlage grew up in White County and graduated from Twin Lakes High School in 2006. He pursued higher education at Ball State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2010. He joined the Indiana State Police as part of the 70th Recruit Academy in 2011 and was subsequently assigned to the Lafayette District.
Throughout his tenure with the department, Sergeant Bentlage has taken on various critical roles, including Field Training Officer (FTO), Meth Suppression Unit member, Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Background Investigator, and Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) instructor. Most notably, he has been a recruit counselor for the 81st through the 85th academies, where he played a vital role in shaping the careers of new officers.
In his new role, Sergeant Bentlage will assist in overseeing training operations at the academy, leveraging his extensive experience and knowledge to guide and mentor recruits. The Indiana State Police congratulates Sergeant Bentlage on his well-deserved promotion and looks forward to his continued contributions to the force.
Sergeant Bentlage resides in White County and is supported by his wife and two children.
