Chicago-based Transit Tees, a creative group with a passion for Chicago that designs and produces products appealing to locals and urban explorers, announced the launch of its Chicago Handshake Treasure Crawl Board Game, the first Chicago themed drinking board game inspired by the notorious drink combo of an Old Style Beer and a shot of Malört. This board game is perfect for adults who enjoy Chicago trivia, traditions, and nostalgia.

This pirate themed board game is the latest addition to Transit Tees’ growing line of successful tabletop games that have put them on the map. The new Chicago Handshake Treasure Crawl game challenges players to collect as many gold coins as possible, beware the changing rules from the ‘Captain’, and be the first to reach ‘The Spot’ at the end of the map, winning the pile of coins and concluding the game. The player with the most gold coins at the end wins. This game is a little strategy, a little chance, and a whole lot of fun!

Players roll the dice to advance on the board and then must follow the rules on the cards, incorporating trivia, board movements, doling out drinks, and talking like a pirate. All gameplay is overseen by the ever changing Captain who holds too much power for their own good and can switch up the game by applying their own rules. The “Sandy Shores” card asks that players take turns naming beaches in Chicago, first to miss takes 2 swigs of their drink and discards 1 coin. The “Yo Ho Ho!” card requires you to exclaim ‘Yo ho ho!’ after everything you say, and to take a drink any time you forget. This card stays in play until another persistent card takes its place or the Captain grants you mercy. This lively game is full of action, laughs, and of course drinks, for 3-6 players, ages 21 and up.

Transit Tees’ Chicago Handshake Treasure Crawl Board Game retails for $45 and is available for presale online starting October 16, and in retail locations on December 1. Find it at both Transit Tees locations in Wicker Park (1371 N Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago) and Andersonville (5226 N Clark Street Chicago). The Chicago Handshake Treasure Crawl is the 12th game released by the local artists at Transit Tees following the smashing success of their previous games such as EL: The Chicago Transit Adventure (2019), the Chicago Handshake Drinking Card Game (2021), and Target: Rats The Board Game (2022). The Chicago Handshake Treasure Crawl Board Game was locally conceptualized and designed in Transit Tees’ creative studio based in the Fulton Market neighborhood of Chicago.

About Transit Tees

Transit Tees, founded in 2001 by Tim Gillengerten, takes visuals from Chicago’s metropolitan landscapes and transforms them into games, fashionable artwork, accessories, home goods, and apparel. Their most recent hits, the Target: Rats The Board Game, launched in the fall of 2022 and the Chicago Handshake Drinking Card Game launched in 2021. An official manufacturer for the Chicago Transit Authority, two recent games, the Loop Card Game and El Board game, were also runaway successes. Transit Tees locally designs, fabricates, and retails their signature brand online and at two storefronts in Wicker Park and Andersonville.
