The Towle Theater is pleased to announce auditions for Towle Youth Theater Ensemble’s Spring production of I Hate Shakespeare! Auditions are open to anyone ages 12-18 from Indiana or Illinois, public, private or home schooled. Everyone involved in the show must show proof of vaccination (at least one shot) to audition. All staff is fully vaccinated and all audiences must provide proof of vaccination to attend, including children 6+.
Auditions are February 4 at 6:30pm and February 6 at 6:30pm at the Towle theater, 5205 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, IN. You do not need to attend both audition sessions, but it may be beneficial and FUN!! Please arrive by 6:15 to fill out paperwork and expect to be here until 8:30 or 9:00 at the latest. Please register for auditions so they know how many to expect. 1-219-937-8780.
For auditions, please prepare a memorized one minute comedic or Shakespeare monologue. You will also be asked to read from the script. Script cuttings are available at www.towletheater.org. Keep in mind, auditioning is similar to interviewing for a job. Please dress nicely, arrive well rested and 15 minutes prior to the audition time.
Rehearsals may begin the week of February 7 with a company meeting/read through. Typically, rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday afterschool until 6:00pm. If cast and staff are available on Fridays and weekends, those may be options too. You will need to provide a list of conflicts at auditions (even though you may not know all of your conflicts, we will need a good sense of your availability since we are expecting this to be a relatively small cast - all cast members will be playing multiple roles). You must be available at least 2 days per week for rehearsals, 3-4 days per week for the last few weeks. Performances are April 1-3, 8-10. Friday and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2pm. You must be available for ALL performances and every day of tech/production week March 28 - 31.
Since 2010, the Towle Youth Theater Ensemble, or TYTE, has been wowing NWI audiences with productions such as the Northwest Indiana Premiere of Jason Robert Brown’s 13, Anne of Green Gables, Heathers & Carrie: the Musical and the World Premiere of Mental by Towle Youth Theater Ensemble Member, Isabel Zuniga.
