On Thursday, December 9th, the Munster Police Department held our 17th Annual “Cops & Kids” holiday shopping program for children in need at Meijer’s in Highland.
That evening, approximately 70 children were taken shopping for toys and/or clothing by Munster Police officers and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) with funds that had been generously donated by area residents, businesses, and community service organizations.
In addition, free meal certificates were provided to each family courtesy of Robert Mazzaro from McDonald’s in Munster and Meijer’s also provided cookies and other snacks to the participants throughout the evening.
In addition to the large number of area residents who provided donations this year, business and community organization sponsors included McDonald’s, the Munster Junior Woman’s Club, Sumadija LLC, Mark O’s Bar & Grill, Barbara Shaver-Attorney at Law, Munster Stor-All, Munster-Highland Tri-Kappa, Hammond Pet Hospital, the MOMS Club of Munster, Kraz Construction, the Munster Historical Society, Nutrition on Main, Top Tier Nutrition, and the Mustang Hockey Team.
The Munster Police Department would like to thank the members of our community who helped to make this memorable event possible this year through your generous donations and support. Happy Holidays!
