The devastating invasion of Ukraine is creating one of the most significant humanitarian crises in the world. Hundreds of thousands of families have fled Ukraine to avoid the threat of war, leaving people in need of food, shelter, and emergency assistance.

While the world continues to watch the violence unfold, many are wondering how they can help the people of Ukraine. To ensure your humanitarian support of Ukraine has the greatest impact, we have created a list of recommended organizations and response funds that are directly supporting those affected by the conflict. We hope you consider donating to amplify these efforts.

Tips on finding and supporting charities involved in Ukraine humanitarian relief

Unfortunately, scammers love to use times of tragedy and unrest to take advantage of kindness. As you look for ways to help Ukrainians impacted by Russia's attack, it is important to take your time and do your research to ensure you do not fall victim to a scam.

Here are some tips, from our friends at Indiana University Bloomington, to keep in mind while donating to support the people of Ukraine:

  1. Give to charities with a track record in eastern Europe.
  2. Prioritize cash over goods, and unrestricted cash gifts over restricted gifts.
  3. Verify the organization is a registered charity.
  4. Consider supporting advocacy and independent media organizations as well as direct relief organizations.
