Jeannie Rapstad

An award-winning speaker and writer, comedienne Jeannie Rapstad brings a lifetime of adventurous experiences and chance encounters to her stage personas. Jeannie not only talks the talk, she continues to walk the walk. Her wide range of amusing characters and vocal impersonations keep audiences laughing and entertained as she morphs from one personality and story to the next with just a couple of “quick change” costume props for fun and surprises. Jeannie was a featured stage comedy headliner in the CVPA Ballroom in December 2020 and starred in a new production run of A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” also in the CVPA Ballroom in February 2022. Born in Chicago, Jeannie grew up in Salinas, California, and then moved to New Orleans where she studied acting and modeling. Jeannie worked as a model, and as a film actress, she appeared in The Thursday Morning Murders and Annie and the Old One, both released in 1976, and early in her career, she even appeared on the original game show of romance The Dating Game as a contestant. Jeannie developed her stand-up comedy skills performing in all the major comedy clubs in the Los Angeles market, including The Comedy Store, The Improvisation, The Ice House, The Laff Stop, and the Hollywood Canteen, to name just a few.  Jeannie's show, "Comic Sketches" is in demand as an after lunch/dinner entertainment program.

Nelson Velaquez and his IMPROV team Improductions, LCC Comedy (Un)scripted

As director and producer, Nelson Velazquez launched this theatre production company almost a decade ago specializing in improv, sketch comedy, and stand-up serving the NWI/Chicagoland theatre/acting community. He has been involved in improvisational theatre since 2004 and is the former Artistic Director & current board member of Salsation Theatre Company, a 20+ year old Latino theatre company specializing in sketch and improv comedy. From hosting both in-person and virtual online classes to touring and producing IMPROV shows around Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland, Nelson and his funny and talented team includes favorite ensemble members showcasing comedy creativity in-the-moment. Performances mix music, and audience input for unexpected entertaining results to amuse all ages. Nelson Velazquez is a faculty at The Second City Training Center Chicago and he has trained and performed at The Annoyance Theatre and ComedySportz Chicago and has performed with various groups across the country.  Nelson and his team finds the funny in everyday moments. Some of the group’s favorite recent stage shows including “Hard Times of Northwest Indiana,” “Love & Improv: Episode 6” and “The GRID 2022.” Nelson has taught workshops across the country including The Baltimore Improv Festival, The Chicago Improv Festival, The San Jose Improv Festival, The San Diego Improv Festival The Trill Comedy Festival, Melanin LatinX Comedy Festival, and The Grand Rapids Improv Festival.
