STOP KISS in honor of Pride Month!
by Diane Son
Directed by Lisa Formosa-Parmigiano and Tyler Mills
After 2 postponements due to Covid, the Artistic Committee realized we now had the ideal spot to present this incredible story. When the play first opened in 1998, Variety had this to say
“A poignant and funny play about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change irrevocably."
After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate.

Ashleigh Happer as Sara and Victoria Hooten as Callie
The original run at the Public Theatre in New York was extended 3 times. New York media had nothing but accolades for this work by a new playwright:
“There’s so much that is vital and exciting about STOP KISS…you want to embrace this young author and cheer her on to other works…the writing on display here is funny and credible…you also will be charmed by its heartfelt characters and up-to-the-minute humor.” —NY Daily News. “…irresistibly exciting…a sweet, sad, and enchantingly sincere play.” —NY Times. “We are amazed how fast we have come to trust this new playwright, Diana Son. We depend upon her to respect the integrity of her unusually real, complicated female characters, and, in turn, her very smart and engaging new play…” —NY Newsday. “Something as thought provoking and ultimately moving as STOP KISS is a joy to experience.” —Star Ledger
This production will be presented in the round in our Edith Wood Studio Theatre, resulting in an intimate theatrical experience. Seating is limited to 42 so advance reservations are strongly suggested. There is no reserved seating so come early. There is another very good reason to come early, our concession stand now features Camelot Coffee and their specialty coffees made with beans from local roaster, Yaggy Road, plus Italian Sodas featuring boba pearls, and a variety of specialty treats from small businesses that utilize Nana Clare's professional kitchen!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU!
To everyone that responded to our "Replenish, repair and renovate" campaign, we would like to again say Thank You! After everything we went through during the shutdown with the boiler, gutters, etc., our air conditioner decided its compressor was ready to retire. Thanks to this campaign, we should have it fixed and the building cool before the next show opens! If you donated and did not receive your thank you/tax document, please email boxoffice@chicagostreet.org for another copy. We have been experiencing a myriad of issues with the mail lately and want to make sure you know how much your donation was appreciated!
