South Shore Roller Derby is recruiting! On January 25th and February 1st, 2022, watch a roller derby practice, speak with league members and learn about the sport of roller derby. South Shore Roller Derby is recruiting skaters, referees and non skating officials.
These free recruitment events will be held from 7-9pm at NEO New Vistas High School Sportsplex, 5201 US-6, Portage, IN. No equipment or experience required! Those interested in participating can register online at SouthShoreRollerDerby.org or by emailing SouthShoreRollerDerby@gmail.com
“So many people don’t know that there is competitive roller derby right here in Northwest Indiana. By hosting these callout events, we hope anyone interested in seeing what it takes to be a part of a roller derby league takes their first step towards joining. We have skaters and members from all over Northwest Indiana and all walks of life. There are members who are nurses, mothers, college students, teachers, artists, and more! If you have ever considered roller derby, come to these recruitment events and see that derby is for everyone, including you!” said El Kapitan, league president.
New skater programming will begin the week of February 13. More information will be provided at the recruitment events.
