Less than 5 Holiday Small Works Invitational
November 22–30: Atrium Gallery | November 30–December 14: Meeting Room Gallery
South Shore Arts is delighted to host their first annual "Less than 5" invitational, a celebration of artistic diversity and price accessibility. Featuring over 40 recent works by regional artists, the exhibit emphasizes smaller scale works priced at $500 or less, offering both first time and longtime collectors a rare opportunity to acquire high-quality works at an accessible price point. This intersection of affordability and excellence forms the cornerstone of this exhibition.
After Sargent
November 22, 2024–February 22, 2025: Main Gallery
“Every time I paint a portrait, I lose a friend.” Explore the unique legacy of celebrated Belle Époque artist John Singer Sargent through the eyes of 12 contemporary painters, draftspersons, and sculptors. Visitors to this exhibit will be guided through 10 distinctive sections highlighting Sargent’s history, his technical achievements in human figure drawing, and the subsequent contemporary artists who have followed in his footsteps. Over 80 works of art will be on display, including master copies of Sargent’s own works with narrative panels describing both Sargent’s life and process. Accompanying pieces will explore how contemporary artists carried on, challenged, furthered, and broken with Sargent’s approach to portraiture.
After Sargent will feature several artist-led events such as live painting demonstrations, lectures, artist talks, music, and more throughout the three-month display.
