The Rhythm of the Rocket Man starring Colte Julian paying tribute to Sir Elton John was an incredible crowd-pleasing show on May 16 at Theatre at the Center. Along with Colte Julian, with his amazing lead vocals and piano, was the very talented band: Christopher Wren on electric guitar, Michael Bulawayo on bass guitar, Patrick Morrow on drums, Eva Butcher on saxophone /reeds, Matt Flanagan on trombone, and Leon “Q” Allen on trumpet.
The show delivered an entertaining, high-energy, engaging performance, complete with realistic costumes that captured a true Elton John concert experience.
The crowd was encouraged to sing along, and they did, enjoying every minute of the show from start to finish. The show opened with the hit song, “Philadelphia Freedom.” “Crocodile Rock,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Benny and the Jets,” “Rocket Man,” and “I’m Still Standing” were audience favorites. The show closed with an encore of “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” which was very appropriate for a wonderful Saturday night concert!
