
To all residents of unincorporated Lake, County Indiana: Please be advised that in accordance with Lake County Ordinance 1035A Section 5, it is unlawful and a violation of County Ordinance 1035A
(A) For any person or corporation to park any vehicle upon the paved portion of any Street or Highway maintained by the Lake County Highway Department at any time with in 12 hours after a snowfall of two (2) inches or more. Cars parked on the roadway after a two (2) inch snowfall will be towed by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, at the owner’s expense
(B) As used in this chapter, PAVED PORTION OF ANY STREET OR HIGHWAY shall mean that portion of a street or highway which has been either paved or improved for use by motor vehicles with concrete, asphalt, limestone, gravel, slag, cinders or other similar materials or combinations thereof.
Homeowners should not park their vehicle on the paved portion of the roadway in front of their driveway. Vehicles should be moved onto the driveway, or they will be towed following a snowfall of two (2) inches or more.
(C) The County Sheriff’s Department and all members thereof are hereby authorized to remove and tow away, or have removed and towed away by commercial towing services any vehicle parked in violation of this chapter.
