Munster residents are encouraged to participate in Munster’s 2nd Annual National Night Out Block Party Contest.
On Saturday, July 29th, Munster Police officers and firefighters will be traveling around town to visit pre-registered block parties and to interact with their residents in a positive way. Last year, fifteen (15) different neighborhoods held block parties in an effort to promote unity and to allow neighbors to get to know each other and first responders.
In addition, our first responders will also be completing score sheets based on the number of activities, participation, and neighborhood unity which will determine this year’s Block Unity Award. The winning block will be notified and invited to a presentation of their street sign at the National Night Out Celebration on August 1st at the Munster Community Pool.
In an effort to encourage participation from residents, the Munster Town Council voted once again to WAIVE ALL DEPOSITS AND FEES associated with block parties for July 29th only. Barricades will be delivered in advance to participating neighborhoods.
If your block or subdivision would like to hold a block party on July 29th, please REGISTER BY JULY 1ST by contacting Officer James Ghrist at 219-836-6639 or jghrist@munster.org.
