The opening series for the RailCats against Milwaukee Milkmen. Gary dropped the first two games for a combined three runs, but with Peyton Long on the mound the ‘Cats wanted to salvage a game.
The ‘Cats bats put pressure on Milwaukee starter Matt Givin, through his five innings he surrendered eight hits and never faced the minimum. Givin never gave up a run-scoring hit, stranding nine RailCat runners.
Long matched zeros with Givin until the bottom of the fifth when a cutter stayed up and Glenn Santiago banged it for a home run. The Milkmen bats stayed hot, stringing together five hits in the inning, scoring two runs and chasing Long out of the game.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jaykob Acosta got two quick outs before a Milkmen rally. A hit by pitch, a single by Willie Escala turned into two runs when Carlos Amaya doubled into deep left center field to double the lead 4-0.
The RailCats ended the final game with 10 hits, no runs and 12 men left on base. The final was 4-0, dropping the RailCats to 0-3 to begin the 2025 season. Gary SouthShore will reset and head home for the home opener against the Cleburne Railroaders. First pitch
