For the first time since June, the Gary SouthShore RailCats had won back-to-back series after taking the series from Lake Country DockHounds. The RailCats went on the road to face the Milwaukee Milkmen for a three-game series from Franklin Field.

The top of the first started with Korry Howell doubling into left center field, with two outs and Howell at third base, Marc Flores dropped a ball into center field to give the RailCats the early lead of 1-0. It wouldn’t be until the top of the fifth when Elvis Peralta doubled in Ryan Leitch to double the RailCats lead.

In the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded, Marc Flores battled until he eventually drew a bases loaded walk to give the RailCats a 3-0 lead. Frank Plesac went six scoreless innings, and the Milkmen were able to load the bases against him that lead to Zach Plesac coming in and allowing just one of the runs to score on a soft ground ball. After seven innings the RailCats led 3-1.

The RailCats bats had one more rally in the top of the ninth with Nick Podkul dropping a ball into center and Kevin Watson Jr smacking an RBI single into right field for the RailCats to build a six-run lead. Milwaukee would score three runs in the bottom of the ninth, two on a single from Alec Olund. But the game would eventually end with the RailCats holding on to a 7-4 win.

The RailCats have won three-straight contests and will go for a third-consecutive series win on Wednesday at 6:30. Dominic Cancellieri will pitch for the RailCats and the Milkmen will throw RHP Christian Young. A livestream will be available on www.AABaseball.TV.

The RailCats will return home for a weekend series against the Kane County Cougars. Friday will be Union Night, Saturday is a thermos giveaway presented by Methodist Hospitals, and Sunday will be Sensory Awareness Day, with the RailCats wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off. Tickets are available at www.Tixr.com/RailCats.
