Warren County – Sunday afternoon, just after 2:00 p.m., Trooper Killin was driving northbound on U.S. 41 near County Road 650 North when a 2008 Ford Focus passed him. Trooper Killin attempted to stop the Ford for speeding, but the driver failed to stop and continued northbound. The driver was later identified as Jawan Lawrence.
Trooper Killin continued the pursuit northbound on U.S. 41 into Benton County. Benton County deputies attempted to deploy stop sticks near State Road 18 on U.S. 41. Lawrence tried to avoid the stop sticks by driving through the median, but the vehicle became stuck. Lawrence then attempted to flee the vehicle on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. Trooper Killin also located a female passenger and a juvenile in the vehicle. Both the female and the juvenile were released from the scene without incident.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered a firearm in Lawrence’s possession, as well as a "Glock switch". In addition to that, officers determined that Lawrence had an active warrant for his arrest out of Lake County, Indiana. Lawrence was transported to the Warren County Jail.

- Possession of a Machine Gun Without a License – Level 5 Felony
- Neglect of a Dependent – Level 5 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle – Level 6 Felony
- Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor
Charges listed on his Lake County warrant:
- Disorderly Conduct – Class B Misdemeanor
Trooper Killin was assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fowler Police Department.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
