Please read these important safety tips in reference to distraction scams and to share them especially with your family members, friends, or neighbors who are senior citizens.

• Be aware of anyone who comes to your door advising that they need to check your water, that there is a utility issue, or that they are from the town. These suspects will often wear construction vests, hard hats, false identification, and carry portable radios.

• Talk with visitors through a side window and make sure that your exterior doors are always locked.

• Carry a spare key and your cell phone with you when working in the yard and lock your home.

• Call 911 to report anyone suspicious on your property right away and never let strangers into your home who you have not called for service.
