Mon, 05/23/2022 - 9:12pm by laughingcat

There’s just one place to be on Tuesday nights at 6 pm, especially if you love live music! Beginning June 7, Portage LIVE! presents a stellar line-up of musical entertainment at Oakwood Hall at Portage's Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road. Admission to these indoor performances is absolutely free. Open seating, as well as food concessions and a cash bar will be provided.

The thirteen-concert series kicks off with Jim Bulanda’s Salute to the Stars on June 7 from 6 – 7:30 pm and continues every Tuesday through August 30.

Bulanda is a local talent who can easily step into the shoes of any major Las Vegas entertainer; a vocal impersonator of such greats as Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Neil Diamond, and Michael Buble. He is most famous and appreciated for his incredible vocal impression of the Chairman of the Board himself, Frank Sinatra.  With a repertoire of over 300 classic songs, he has delighted audiences throughout northwest Indiana for over 20 years. Bulanda has performed on stages ranging from the Star Plaza, accompanied by the NWI Symphony, to numerous coast to coast venues including Las Vegas.

The Portage LIVE! Summer Music Series features music of virtually every era and genre from rock & roll, swing, blues, contemporary, to original tunes. Jimmy Buffet, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart and Elvis tribute concerts are included in this amazing mix, all drawn from our own substantial NW Indiana/Chicagoland talent pool! Come and Dance! A car show will also be featured at Woodland Park before and during all Tuesday concerts.

We welcome your donations of nonperishable food, personal items or paper products for the Portage Food Pantry and Gabriel’s Horn Homeless Shelter at all our concerts. (These are not required.)

This series is made possible with the generous support of the Porter County Community Foundation, Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce, Portage Department of Parks & Recreation, John W. Anderson Foundation, and Quinlan & Fabish Music Company. Additional donations to support Portage LIVE!’s mission to make live musical entertainment and cultural events available in Portage Township may be made simply by texting PORTAGE to 44321. Portage LIVE! (formerly Portage Township Live Entertainment Association) is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. Your donations are tax-deductible as permitted by law.

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the music!  Bring the whole family to sing, dance or just listen.  For more information, contact Portage Chamber of Commerce 219-762-3300, Portage Parks 219-762-1675, Debra Silvert, publicity chair 219-628-0914 or visit www.portagelive.org.
