
For those looking to plan their summer getaways, the Cleve Carney Museum of Art’s WARHOL exhibition is the ideal destination for launching a weekend of art-themed activities for visitors of all ages and all levels of art expertise. After experiencing the exhibition, visitors can explore more than 20 nearby towns in Chicago’s western suburbs of DuPage County with related activities including Warhol-inspired murals, exhibitions, workshops, custom brews at local breweries, a fashion show and more. WARHOL exhibition tickets start at $10 and many of the community and on-site programs and events are free to attend.

On view through Sept. 10, the WARHOL exhibition features more than 200 original works and photographs by the iconic artist, including 94 works comprising “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop | Works from the Bank of America Collection” and a collection of 150 Warhol photographs and original works from College of DuPage’s Permanent Art Collection. Unfolding over 11,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, visitors have the opportunity to experience Andy Warhol’s life through interactive exhibits, recreations and videos created exclusively for this exhibition including a historical exhibit, Kids Pop Art Print Factory, Studio 54 Experience, Central Park-inspired outdoor area and Silver Clouds installation. There is also a series of on-site events including lectures by internationally renowned authors and Warhol experts, workshops, concerts and more taking place throughout the exhibition’s run.
“With all of the events taking place this summer, alongside the Public Pop Art Challenge with more than 20 murals, out-of-town visitors can plan an entire weekend around viewing and embracing Pop Art in DuPage, and residents can plan fun ‘staycations,’” said Executive Director of the MAC, Diana Martinez. “DuPage County is truly embracing the Warhol spirit, which allows for visitors to the WARHOL exhibition to continue their experience after viewing his artwork to get to know the artist further.”
For more art exhibitions, visitors can also enjoy the Elmhurst Art Museum’s Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross, celebrating one of the greatest artists in the field of comic books. Ticket stubs at one museum can be used to receive a $5 discount at the other.

Public Pop Art Challenge: DuPage County is featuring more than 20 outdoor public art installations by artist Geoff Bevington. Each mural celebrates four notable hometown heroes with iconic Warhol-style portraits. The displays are all outdoor in each city, and is sponsored by the College of DuPage and the JCS Fund of the DuPage Foundation.

The late Cleve Carney provided a significant legacy gift to establish the Cleve Carney Art Gallery at College of DuPage. The gallery opened in February 2014 with its inaugural exhibition, “Selections from Cleve Carney’s Art Collection.” In fall 2020, the gallery was expanded to a 2,500 square-foot museum. The Cleve Carney Museum of Art opened June 2021 with the highly anticipated “Frida Kahlo: Timeless” exhibition and hosts exhibitions year-round.
