Opportunity Enterprises (OE) elected new officers to their Board of Directors at the last Board meeting of the organization’s fiscal year. On June 17, John Freyek of First Merchants Bank was elected Board Chair; Natalie Krivas of Valparaiso Community Schools as Vice Chair; Patrick Lyp of City of Valparaiso as Secretary; and Kathleen Smith of Porter Township School Corporation as Treasurer. Newly elected Board Officers will hold their position for two fiscal years. Marc Ruiz of Oak Partners became Immediate Past Chair and will continue to help lead the organization by serving on the Board’s Executive Committee.
“For two years, I have been preparing to serve Opportunity Enterprises and the amazing individuals this organization serves as Board Chair. OE is in a strong growth mode which is absolutely necessary to continue providing the best possible opportunities for our clients. I am grateful for the direction and mentorship our past Chair Marc Ruiz provided to me, personally, and I look forward to working with Natalie Krivas as our new Vice Chair, all of our Board members and the leadership of OE,” states John Freyek.
In addition, leadership of Opportunity Enterprises celebrated the volunteer service of Rick AmRhein as he rotated off the Board after nine years of dedicated service. “Rick completed his Board term holding the position of Secretary. He has been a true asset and a vocal leader in setting the strategic direction of our organization. I am grateful for his vision and his undeniable commitment toward individuals with disabilities. While he will be missed in our Board room, I know he will remain involved and will continue to support our endeavors in the interest of our clients,” emphasizes Neil Samahon, president and CEO.
The newly elected Board officers will begin their terms in July 2021.
