The Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and conductor Kirk Muspratt present Rach & Blue, with two performances, Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 4. Both concerts are at 7:30pm at Living Hope Church, 9000 Taft Street, Merrillville/Crown Point.
Pianist Wael Farouk will perform two piano masterworks: Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The concert will also feature lively classical pieces from Strauss and Enesco as well as contemporary works from Aaron Copland, James Horner, and John Williams.
“Over the past 20 years, I have conducted hundreds of concerts with our Symphony, but I am not sure ever one quite as diverse as this one!” Maestro Muspratt said. “This crossover concert mixes classical and contemporary pieces that are exciting, bold, and timely!”
Tickets for the concert range from $35 -$75 each and students are $10. Concert season subscriptions are still available.
Additionally, on Friday evening, the Symphony will celebrate its 20th anniversary season with Maestro Kirk Muspratt with a Pre-concert Party, from 4:30 – 6:45 pm at Gamba Ristorante, 455 E. 84th Dr., Merrillville. The party will feature heavy hos d’oeuvres, desserts, and an open bar. Tickets for the party are $125 for individuals, and tables of eight are available starting at $1000. Tickets for the concert are not included in the ticket price but can be purchased separately.
