Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra - Latest Scheduling Updates

  1. Home

Fri, 05/29/2020 - 4:41pm by laughingcat

To that end, we are suspending the 2020 South Shore Summer Music Festival. Likewise, we are taking a very cautious approach to planning the 2020-21 season, as well as determining how we engage Maestro Muspratt, Symphony guest artists, our musicians and members of the Symphony Chorus. We are reassessing and evaluating all operational procedures and relationships to find a fiscally sustainable solution for safely bringing symphonic music back to the region as soon as possible.

Going forward, South Shore Arts and the Symphony are committed to exploring new avenues for providing Northwest Indiana with a musical platform including chamber music concerts, virtual content, online instruction for Youth Orchestra members and individual performances by our Symphony musicians.  We hope to make a triumphant return to Living Hope Church for a full concert season, recognizing that we may have to adapt our programming to accommodate a flexible schedule that might include a new vision, smaller formats and accommodating audiences in compliance with prevailing laws and updated requirements.

Please continue to invest in our future and help us work our way through these unprecedented times. If you have purchased tickets for “Carmina Burana” and/or “West Side Story in Concert,” we are asking that you consider making the price of your ticket a fully tax deductible donation. Or, if you prefer, we can issue you a refund. We cannot guarantee that either of these concerts will be rescheduled in the coming season.

All donations and refunds need to be processed by June 30, which marks the end of our fiscal year. You can call the Box Office at 219/836-0525, ext. 200, leave a message and we’ll get back to you—or you can email us at tammie@nisorchestra.org to communicate your wishes. Please be aware that staff is still working remotely until June 15, and will return your call as soon as they are able.

We look forward to engaging you musically in new ways until we can all meet again!
