On June 3rd, Legacy Foundation proudly hosted our 7th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner. It was a special evening filled with celebration, reflection, and hope for what’s to come.
We were honored to recognize this year’s scholarship recipients—exceptional students from across Lake County—alongside their families, supporters, and members of our community. More than $1.5 million in scholarships were awarded, thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners.
The evening featured two inspiring guest speakers, Laura Reid a Special Education Aide for Valparaiso Community schools and Nitya Shah a first-generation college graduate from Indiana University, both former Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipients. Laura, now a volunteer scholarship reviewer, shared a powerful message about giving back and the lasting impact of educational support. Nitya spoke about his journey and the importance of opportunity, community, and lifelong learning.
Each year, this event continues to grow—not only in size but in meaning. It’s a reminder of the bright future ahead for Lake County and the importance of investing in young people who are ready to make their mark.
We extend our deepest thanks to our scholarship donors, selection committees, volunteers, and partners who make this work possible.
Thank you for being part of an unforgettable evening.
