Art Barn hosts Mark Vander Vinne's "Artistic Landscapes" Workshop
Art Barn School of Art's latest guest artist workshop, "Painting the Artistic Landscape" with Mark Vander Vinne is intended for all levels of painters, and focuses on creating compelling landscapes using oil paint and other artistic media. This 3-day workshop will run October 13 through 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch included in the $375 cost. Registration is open now through September 29, 2023. Art Barn’s relaxing, retreat atmosphere and small class sizes allow adult participants to fully immerse themselves in an intensive work environment. Workshops include lectures, demonstrations, instruction and work time.
Guest Artist Workshops are designed to help adult students improve specific skills in an immersive group environment and to provide the opportunity for networking with other artists from the community and other areas of the country. Additionally, the workshops provide access to experienced teaching artists with international reputations to the local community.
A celebrated northwest Indiana landscape painter, Mark Vander Vinne. is an active member in the region, being a member of the American Impressionist Society, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association and the Hoosier Salon. Many of his paintings are influenced by tonalism and impression, with illustration and abstraction commonly seeping into his work.
"When I begin painting, I first seek out the abstract shapes within the scene," said Vander Vinne. "Using these shapes, I can craft a composition that capture the viewer's attention." He then uses light and color to evoke the mood of the painting, drawing his inspiration from nature. By considering the varying weather, seasons, locations and light, he believes an abundance of ideas can be provided to capture authenticity.
