
Maestro Kirk Muspratt and New Philharmonic are happy to announce the 8th New Philharmonic Young People’s Competition. Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to perform at a New Philharmonic orchestra concert within 18 months.
Auditions will be held Friday, May 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center, Room 140, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn. The audition reservation deadline is 5 p.m., Thursday, May 11. The competition is open to young instrumentalists and vocalists who
• Play a musical instrument or sing – solo, duets, trios, and quartets
• Memorize a musical selection of their choice (2 minute maximum)
• Complete no higher than grade 11 by June 30, 2023
• Reside in the College of DuPage Community College District 502 or study with a teacher in this district.
Whether they sing or play an instrument, auditioners may perform solos, duets, trios, or quartets. They need to memorize their music and provide their own accompanist. There is a two-minute maximum for audition and performance. There is one $20 application fee for each auditioning appointment.
Winners will perform their piece at a New Philharmonic concert within 18 months following the competition. These assignments are at the discretion of the music director. Winners must provide their own accompanist for the concert who has been pre-approved by New Philharmonic orchestra management. For more information visit www.AtTheMAC.org.

New Philharmonic, the only professional orchestra based in DuPage County, Ill., has inspired classical music enthusiasts in Chicago and the suburbs for more than four decades.
