
New Philharmonic, the professional orchestra in residence at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC), is pleased to announce their 2022-2023 Season. The season begins with “Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto” with guest artist, Filipino-American Steinway piano artist, Victor Santiago Asuncion (Sept. 24-25). It continues with “Halloween Spooktakular – Haunting Classics” (Oct. 22-23), a sequel to last season’s crowd-pleasing Halloween-themed concert and three New Year’s Eve Concerts (Dec. 31). The New Year brings “Korngold’s Hollywood Concerto” featuring award-winning 16-year-old violinist Esme Kim Arias (Jan 21-22). “Broadway In Concert,”a spectacular evening of musical theater works, completes the season (April 15-16).
“The world continues to change but music continues to be the universal connection between people, communities, and our past, present and future,” says New Philharmonic Music Director Kirk Muspratt. “With that in mind, we’ve put together a season that will introduce our audiences to some exciting new talent as well as new versions of some of our most popular theme concerts.”

Subscriptions are now on sale. Single-concert tickets will go on sale Aug. 6. In addition to the subscription series concerts, New Philharmonic will once again perform Tchaikovsky’s score live for Salt Creek Ballet’s beloved traditional production of “The Nutcracker” (Dec. 17-18).
A list of New Philharmonic’s 2022-2023 season concerts with dates, times and single concert ticket prices is attached to this release. All performances will take place in the McAninch Arts Center’s Belushi Performance Hall, located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage. New Philharmonic concerts are frequently preceded or followed by free informative MAC Chat presentations on site at the McAninch Arts Center. MAC Chats provide audiences

Filipino-American Steinway piano artist, Victor Santiago Asuncion, hailed by The Washington Post for his “poised and imaginative playing,” joins New Philharmonic for Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 23. The program will also feature selections from fSergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” Suite Op. 64. brimming with lyrical melodies that capture the romance and tragedy of Shakespeare’s classic tale.

16-year-old violinist Esme Kim Arias, winner of the 2022 Minnesota Orchestra Young People’s Concerto Competition, joins New Philharmonic for Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35. The master film composer of Hollywood’s golden age transformed his movie themes into one of the best-loved concertos of the 20th century. The program also features “Finlandia,” Jean Sibelious’ tone poem depicting the historical struggles of the Finnish people, and George Enescu’s joyful Rhapsody No. 1 in A Major.
