Mustang Toy Roundup

Wed, 11/30/2022 - 2:52pm by laughingcat

For over 35 consecutive years, the students, athletes, sponsors, and coaches of Munster High School have decided to help as many children as possible during the holiday season. This year’s nationwide inflation has put our nation’s families in the worst economic situation in a long time. Remember, we currently have many people waiting weekly in food lines at food pantries to help feed their families. I think we should assume that holiday gifts this year will be hard to come by. Our goal is to put a smile on the face of as many children as possible by giving them a new toy for the holidays.

Last year we had a great response and were able to care for more than 500 families. We currently have a list of hundreds of local children in the Lake County area who probably will not receive a toy for the holidays. Our school is asking for classes, teams, clubs, groups, players, students, parents, friends, and neighbors who are interested in helping those less fortunate. We ask you to share your good fortune and holiday spirit with a needy child or needy family somewhere in Northwest Indiana. Unfortunately, children don’t understand what a pandemic, unemployment, sickness, or divorce has to do with toys and gifts for the holidays. We hope you and others will help put a smile on the face of another child as you and your family enjoy the holidays.

We are asking that interested parties send a new unwrapped toy valued at $15.00 or more. Our largest age group of children is between two and ten years of age. Those of you that would rather have a student shop for you may send a check made out to:

Munster H.S. PTO - TOYS and send it to

Leroy Marsh at Munster High School

8808 Columbia Ave., Munster, IN. 46321.

Toys can be given to any Munster High School coach, teacher, sponsor, or student to donate. Toys also can be dropped off at Munster High School. Collection bins will be located between the hours of 7:10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the main high school entrance. We will still collect toys, even if we are in our e-learning mode and no one is attending school because of a Covid-19 alert. The high school will remain open with collection bins located inside the front entrance doors. All toys must be collected no later than December 15th so that we may distribute the toys to the children. Elementary schools and Wilbur Wright may call or email Coach Marsh to arrange for pick-up.

We truly thank you for your generosity and concern for others less fortunate. We believe that the joy that you bring to others by giving far exceeds the feeling you get by receiving. We thank all of you that have helped us in the past and we wish you all the best in 2023 for you and your family. Please keep yourself and your family safe. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Holiday Cheer to all.

God God bless you and your family,

Leroy Marsh & Munster HS Staff
