A stellar production of one of the most beloved musicals is soaring onstage courtesy of Music Theater Works.
"West Side Story" is currently running through Aug. 30 at The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. The production, featuring a book by Arthur Laurents with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, is directed by Sasha Gerritson.
The show presents a retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet tale. "West Side Story," set in the 1950s, revolves around the love story of Tony and Maria and the tragedies surrounding their love, the rivalry and fighting between the gangs The Jets and The Sharks, and tumultuous race relations in New York at the time.

Music Theater Works' production of this iconic tale is a superb one with exciting choreography and strong performances by the cast.
Starring in the show are Luke Nowakowski, Isabella Ruano, Connor Ripperger, Paulette Jauregui, Emmanuel Ramirez, Kameron Rojas-Schueneman and others.
The show is choreographed by Clayton Cross and Isa Ramirez with music direction by Linda Madonia.

Musical theater fans shouldn't miss this production. You'll definitely end up walking out of the theater singing, or at least humming, all the iconic favorite songs.
