The Munster Police Department and Choice Community Council would like to thank our community for your great support of Munster’s 29th Annual National Night Out Celebration which consisted of a number of pre-events (volunteer appreciation dinner, senior safety bingo, canned food drive, car seat check, and town-wide block parties) leading up to our main event August 6th.

The NNO is held each year to promote positive police and community partnerships, attracted its highest estimated attendance ever.

This year’s event included a Community Parade, free swimming, prizes, kids games, almost 150 booth participants, emergency vehicles, K-9 demonstrations, special guests Steve Trout and Jack “Kid” Callahan, costumed characters, a giveaway of 250 bicycle helmets, crime prevention information, The Magic of Keelan Wendorf, giveaways, musical and dance performances, award presentations, food trucks, and an awesome closing fireworks show generously sponsored by Greg Kaplan and Krazy Kaplan’s Fireworks Outlets.

We would like to thank our many sponsors, the Munster Parks & Recreation, Munster Public Works, the Munster Fire Department, Superior Ambulance, our many booth participants, and close to 60 volunteers who helped to make this event possible. Thank you as well to our dedicated Choice Community Council for assisting with planning this year’s activities.

We also appreciate Tanner Ollo and Everly Chamberlain for providing musical performances that evening.

We would also like to thank the many residents who organized block parties in their neighborhoods on August 3rd, and would like to once again congratulate the winners of both our Citizenship and Block Unity Awards.

THANK YOU again to our community for your great participation and support of our National Night Out this year! Event photos have been posted on our Facebook page
