Sun, 11/20/2022 - 7:08pm by laughingcat

It’s time for the third-annual Merry & Bright Holiday Lights Contest! This Munster Education Foundation (MEF) event kicks off Friday, Dec. 2, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with a "Light the Night" event at Munster Town Hall, where you can see Town Hall's lights turned on for the first time and meet Santa himself. Light the Night is co-sponsored by MEF, the Munster Civic Foundation, and the Munster Chamber of Commerce. There are a variety of ways to participate in the town-wide Holiday Lights contest, which will run from Dec. 2 to 31:

  1. Enter your home in the contest. Ready to dig out those lights and enter the holiday lights decorating contest? It’s easy! The entry fee is just $15, and all proceeds support Munster schools. The deadline to register is Nov. 27. Register your home today! See here for further details, such as how judging will work.
  2. Purchase a Holiday Lights experience package to enjoy the displays! You're not Clark Griswold, but still love touring the holiday lights? That's OK. You can order a kit complete with everything you need to make your viewing experience memorable, from a map of participating houses to 3-D glasses for viewing the lights, packets of hot cocoa, and a variety of fun surprises. Kits are $20 each, with all proceeds supporting grants for Munster schools. Find out more and place your order. The deadline to order kits is Nov. 27.
  3. Ride a trolley to view the holiday lights! New this year: trolley rides to view the beautifully decorated homes participating in the Holiday Lights contest. Trolley rides leave from Munster Town Hall on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Dec. 11 at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., with each ride lasting one hour. Cost per person: $10. Register today!
  4. Vote for your favorite home to be the People's Choice winner! After the contest begins on Dec. 2 and you tour the homes, you can vote for the best-decorated house. $1 = 1 vote. Vote as many times as you like! All proceeds will benefit the five Munster schools through innovative grants that educators request. The contest runs until Dec. 31.

We are looking forward to a season of good cheer!
