Recently, the Munster Police Department received a plaque from the National Association of Town Watch after being notified that Munster’s 2023 National Night Out event was ranked #5 in the United States in our population category of 15,000-50,000 people.
This is the eighth straight year that our town’s event has ranked in the top 8, including a #1 ranking in 2020. This past year’s event, which has been held annually for the past 28 years in Munster as a way of promoting positive and community partnerships, enjoyed its highest participation ever while including free swimming, door prizes, games, a magic show, giveaways, safety demonstrations, emergency vehicles, over 120 booth participants, food, music, crime prevention information, Citizenship Award presentations, a Community Parade, and an awesome closing fireworks show generously provided by Mr. Greg Kaplan of Krazy Kaplan’s Fireworks.
Our National Night Out event continues to be successful and grow each year thanks to great support from our community. Plans for our 2024 event are already underway!
