Last week, the Munster Police Department was notified that Munster’s 2021 National Night Out Against Crime Celebration was ranked by the National Association of Town Watch as the #4 National Night Out event in the United States in our population category of 15,000-50,000 residents.
The top 10 in our category are displayed in the graphic.
The National Night Out is celebrated by hundreds of communities throughout the United States each year to promote positive police and community partnerships through a variety of both fun and educational activities for all ages.
This year’s event, which included a main event at the Munster Pool on August 3rd and also included a Community Parade and several fun days of pre-events (a food drive, a charity softball game, a car seat check, and a safety bingo event for seniors) attracted its highest participation ever from the public while including swimming for residents, door prizes, kids games and prizes, a magic show, a blood drive, 100 booth participants, K-9 demonstrations, an awesome closing fireworks show from Krazy Kaplan’s, and other activities for attendees.
Munster’s National Night Out event continues to rank as one of the top ones in the United States thanks to the great support from our community. The Munster Police Department would like to thank the many volunteers, sponsors, booth participants, and attendees who helped to make this past year’s National Night Out event one of the best ones yet.
Our police department and Choice Community Council look forward to beginning plans for our 2022 event starting in January. If you would like to get involved with planning next year’s event, please contact Officer James Ghrist at 836-6639 or jghrist@munster.org.
Thank you again to everyone for your support and participation this year!
