On August 28th, Sergeant Jack DeLeeuw was presented with a Proclamation from the Indiana General Assembly by Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and Indiana State Representative Mike Andrade in recognition of his life-saving efforts involving a man who was preparing to jump from the ledge above the 80/94 expressway. Sergeant DeLeeuw developed a rapport with the man and convinced him to get down from the ledge. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment and we wish him well.
On August 24th, Officer Daniel Balich was recognized by Albert’s Diamond Jewelers as one of their 2024 Hometown Heroes. He and other honored first responders generously received watches from Albert’s. Officer Balich was honored this past June as our department’s 2023 Officer of the Year. Congratulations, Sgt. DeLeeuw and Officer Balich!
