The Munster Police Department is currently seeking new participants for our Munster Dog Walker Watch Program.
The program is held as an extension of our department’s Munster Neighborhood Crime Watch Program, and involves residents who would like to help with looking out for suspicious activity in their neighborhoods while they are walking their dogs.
Participants will be asked to participate in a brief orientation training on Tuesday, June 8th at 5:30pm at the Lions Club Shelter at Community Park and there will be a limit of 20 participants in this training session.
Information will be provided on what to look out for while walking through neighborhoods and parks, tips on reporting suspicious activity, and more.
Each of the participants will also receive a FREE Dog Walker Watch t-shirt (pictured below), sponsored by the Choice Community Council, on a later date. You MUST RSVP in order to participate in the training session, and again there are limited seats available.
Please note that this is a volunteer program and participants do not possess any police authority. Participants must be Munster residents, age 18 or older, and must sign a participant waiver at the training session in order to participate in the program.
To register for this 30 minute training session, please contact Officer James Ghrist at 219-836-6639 or jghrist@munster.org by no later than Wednesday, June 2nd. We will take RSVP’s until all of the seats in the training are filled.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this fun and important community policing program!
