On June 7th, the Munster Rotary Club held their annual luncheon to honor the officers, civilian employees, and volunteers of the Munster Police Department. The event was held at the Carmelite Monastery in Munster and was hosted by Father Bart Stanowski, who also serves as a police department Chaplain.
During the luncheon, Officer Luke Tambrini was awarded as the 2022 Munster Police Department Officer of the Year. Officer Tambrini is a member of the department’s new Crime Suppression Unit and was involved with the apprehension of a murder suspect during the past year.

In addition, Sergeant Nate Martin, Officer Dan Croyle, Officer Jacob Malsch, Officer Kenny Hass, Sergeant David Meyers, and Officer Omar Padilla (not pictured) were honored with Lifesaving Awards for their actions during incidents in 2022.

The Munster Police Department greatly appreciates the Munster Rotary Club as well as Father Bart and the Carmelite Monastery for holding this annual luncheon and for their continued support of our police department. Congratulations to this year’s award recipients and thank you for your service!
Officer Omar Padilla was presented with a Lifesaving Award by Chief Scheckel in recognition of his efforts during a call for service last year. He was not pictured with the other officers last week as he had volunteered to assist with taking calls so that the other officers could enjoy the Munster Rotary Awards Luncheon. Congratulations and great job, Officer Padilla!
