“I begin by thanking U.S. Representative Pete Visclosky for his tireless dedication and life’s work to benefit the only place he has ever called home - Northwest Indiana,” stated Frank Mrvan.
For his entire career, Frank Mrvan has worked to be an advocate for the vulnerable in society, a fighter for organized labor and workers, a champion of our first responders and the veteran community, and focused on creating an economy that works for everyone.
Mrvan learned at a very early age from his father that public service is one of the highest and noblest professions, in which one is capable of dedicating all of their focus into positively impacting their community, state, and country. “I am proud of his career in public service, working with stakeholders to bring awareness and a voice to children and the elderly,” stated Frank.
Mrvan has tirelessly advocated before schools and state officials to support victims of sexual exploitation through his “No More Secrets” program. This program does more than just provide a voice, it provides a continuum of care for individuals and their loved ones. He has also worked to raise awareness and have meaningful discussions about children’s mental health through his “13 Reasons Why Not” program.
As North Township Trustee, he has engaged daily with the elderly population to protect them from being exploited by predatory economic actors and ensure that they have the resources they need to conduct their daily activities. As Congressman, he will continue to use his voice and that position to bring people together and advocate for children and the elderly.
Mrvan’s current elected office as North Township Trustee provides numerous emergency services for individuals and businesses, and he knows how challenging times can be during labor strikes or bankruptcies, or when an individual needs food or housing assistance. These experiences have taught him how to be a leader and fight for individuals, families, and workers when times get tough.
He has walked the line with USW workers during their BP and U.S. Steel strikes, and as Congressman he will unwaveringly continue to stand with labor and all individuals in their times of great need.
Mrvan is also proud of the Northwest Indiana Region’s dedicated first responders and veterans community, and will continue to fight for them in the U.S. House. He has worked to create the First Responders Memorial at Wicker Park, properly honoring our brave men and women who serve and protect our community at great sacrifice every day.
Since his first day as North Township Trustee, Frank Mrvan has been dedicated to being a trusted resource for the veterans’ community. Those who have served in the armed forces continue to serve in many volunteer activities they support in Northwest Indiana. As Congressman, he pledges to always support first responders and veterans, as well as their families, who sacrifice so much to keep our communities and our nation safe.
“A public servant’s job is to do their very best to create an economy that works for everyone,” stated Frank Mrvan. “I understand we must fight for the domestic steel industry against illegally imported steel and unfair trade agreements. I also understand our government must invest in educational opportunities and job training programs to ensure that everyone’s talents are realized in order to benefit our region. As Congressman, I will use his years of experience to continue to work with all stakeholders to create more economic opportunities for everyone and help retain and attract investments to Indiana’s First Congressional District,” he continued.
