Merrillville Woman Arrested for OWI

Lake County – Just after 2:00 a.m. this morning, Trooper Haddon stopped a vehicle on I-80 eastbound near the 2 mile-marker for traveling over 100 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and other traffic violations.

During the course of the investigation, Trooper Haddon developed probable cause to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol. At one point during the investigation, the driver allegedly exposed herself. She was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail.

Arrested:

Britney Rice, 38, of Merrillville, IN

Preliminary Charges:

  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated – Endangerment - Class A Misdemeanor
  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Above .15 BAC - Class A Misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving - Class C Misdemeanor
  • Public Nudity - Class C Misdemeanor

    All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
