Recently, the Munster Police Department received the sad news that one of our residents and faithful community volunteers, Martie Davits, had passed away on May 5th.
Martie was a dedicated volunteer for a number of years as a member of the police department’s Choice Community Council where she helped to plan many annual National Night Out Against Crime events and other community programs that were aimed at crime and drug prevention in Munster.
Martie was also active with our Neighborhood Crime Watch Program where she served as a Block Captain and provided this report to her neighbors each week to help keep them informed about recent crime activity and to promote safety.
Martie was honored by our police department with the annual Citizenship Award in 2011 and was an example and great role model for her fellow residents. She was extremely kind, dedicated, and caring for others.
The Munster Police Department and the members of the Choice Community Council will miss her greatly. Thank you for your service to Munster and rest in peace, Martie.
