Memorial Opera House Foundation announces its 2023 Concert Series Memorial Opera House Foundation is excited to announce its first complete and robust Concert Series for the first time in over four years at Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso, Indiana. They will be kicking off the season on Saturday, January 21 with MegaBeatles for their eighth annual appearance.

Members of The Crawpuppies and Chris & Lou will present a spectacular trip down memory lane featuring the Beatles’ Revolver album and other great hits! Lead band member Chad Clifford says, “This year, in addition to playing all the Beatles songs you know and love we are going to play the Revolver Album in its entirety!” Historically selling out every year, MegaBeatles has been a wonderful way to celebrate the history of Memorial Opera House with concert goers and patrons of the arts.  “We are happy to open our doors for the 2023 season with MegaBeatles.” shares Executive Director Scot MacDonald. “For the majority of the past eight years, they have played an excellent concert to a soldout house. It is certainly a great way to start off the year, chase away the winter blahs, and listen to legendary songs performed by a group of top-notch local musicians.” Clifford continues, “Considered by many to be the best album of all time, [Revolver] features songs when the Beatles were at their most creative peak. It is challenging because we will play songs that require intricate harmonies and complex instrumentation. We are excited to present these amazing songs at the historic Memorial Opera House!”

Continuing the series, Elton Jeff & The Honky Cats will return on March 25 after last June’s world premiere at the Opera House for their second annual appearance. Last year’s event sold out in record time and was received with multiple standing ovations throughout the evening. “Elton” Jeff Gajewski, a regional talent in many respects, describes the act as not just a typical tribute act, but “more like a musical journey spanning over six decades, featuring a review of Elton John's chart-topping favorites that have been embraced by multiple generations.” The Elton Jeff & The Honky Cats production offers a variety of attractive visual elements, along with a stunning musical representation featuring some of the area’s greatest talent in the region. Opera House Foundation Marketing Consultant Andrew Brent says, “They nailed the sound-alike qualities of the music, and presented a dazzling and magical show that had the audience on its feet more than once. It’s not difficult to decide to have them back again, and again… and I hope for many years to come – absolutely delightful!”

On April 1 Memorial Opera House welcomes back the regional legendary Pink Floyd tribute band, Echoes of Pompeii to rock the house with synthesizers, delayed vocals, slide guitars and female backup singers, as well as their impeccable state-of-the-art visuals such as lasers, lights, video, and iconic images that Pink Floyd was well known to produce. This event typically sells out long before the performance date so it is best to reserve seats well in advance. This is a spectacular event that is not to be missed!

Finally, to round out the Spring concerts MOH welcomes back The Cash Box Kings after several years, headlining with Intrepid Artists International artist Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials on April 15 for an evening of flawless and soulful original blues. The Cash Box Kings are bona fide blues royalty. Co-led by real-deal Chicago blues vocalist and songwriter Oscar Wilson and Madison, Wisconsin-based songwriter, harmonica giant and singer Joe Nosek, the band plays masterfully raw and unvarnished house rocking blues. Wilson’s huge, gritty vocals and Nosek’s powerhouse harmonica fuel their razorsharp original songs. With their top shelf musicianship and trademark good humor, The Cash Box Kings are a one-of-a-kind blues band. In Chicago, a city overflowing with unrivaled blues talent, worldrenowned Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials have been standing tall for over 30 years – an extraordinary feat for any group. The band’s big sound, fueled by Lil’ Ed’s gloriously rollicking slide work and deep blues string bending, along with his rough-edged, soulful vocals, is as real and hard-hitting as Chicago blues gets. The Chicago Sun-Times says, “Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials are the hottest purveyors of bottleneck boogie to come out of Chicago since Hound Dog Taylor.”
